Smith and Young Families of northern Rhode Island
Lomas (Loomis) Family
The Lomas (Loomis) Family originated in Cheshire, England, and a few members
immigrated to the United States. There are likely descendant cousins living
in England, and I would enjoy hearing from you. Email me at the link at the
bottom of the page. This webpage is only a very rough outline and is far from
complete.

James arrived in the United States on June 18, 1842 on the Ship "Globe" in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
By 1850, he had married Mary Smith, a cousin of mine through my Smith Family, and was living with her
father Junia Smith in Smithfield, Rhode Island (1850 U.S. Federal Census). James was a weaver through
the 1870's before retiring. Several Lomas relatives were left behind in England, so it is likely there
are living English relatives in the Cheshire area.
